Dear Friends of Tampa Jewish Family Services,

I am writing to share with you news about the administrative changes taking place at Tampa Jewish Family Services.

After 10 years of dedicated service to TJFS, Michael Barnett has decided to pursue a new professional opportunity within the Jewish Community of Memphis. With gratitude to Michael for all he has done, I extend my good wishes to him as he makes the move to Tennessee with his family.

Michael announced he would be leaving four weeks ago, as I was completing my term as President of the TJFS Board of Directors. His last day with the agency is today.

We immediately began planning for a smooth transition, in order to ensure that the needs of our clients and community are being met. And, this included the placement of an Interim Chief Executive Officer.

As I am extraordinarily passionate about the agency, I decided to put my name in for consideration of the position. In addition to my term as President, I have also served as Vice President of Philanthropy, been a board member at large, and a part of the Advisory Council. As a volunteer, I have been involved with TJFS for 7 years. Being an integral member of the TJFS family has been an important and rewarding part of my life. Therefore, the concept of continuing to work on behalf of TJFS as a full-time part of the staff was both compelling and exciting.

I am both humbled and honored to share that the TJFS Board of Directors has selected me to be the Interim CEO. I take on this responsibility with the intent to continue our good work, as well as make strides towards an even brighter future for TJFS as we strive to expand our reach within the community to those persons most in need.

Even with this staff transition, the vital work of TJFS continues without interruption. We continue to support those in need through our many services and programs including our Community Food Bank, Psychological and Social Wellness Center (counseling, educational testing, and senior care programs), and Emergency Financial Assistance.

Please know that your involvement and support of TJFS will continue to be an essential part of the agency’s success.

My door is always open to you. If I or TJFS may be of assistance in any way, or if you have an idea to share, please reach out to me at 813-960-1848 or Bethann.gemunder@tjfs.org.

Thank you for your continued support of Tampa Jewish Family Services. As always, we are here to help.

All the Best,

Beth Ann Gemunder, MD, MPH
Interim CEO Tampa Jewish Family Services
