Dear Friends,

Thank you to all who have supported TJFS over this difficult year and beyond. Hopefully, we are turning the corner. Here at TJFS, we have been working around the clock to support those in need throughout the Tampa Bay Community.

Recently, our Community Food Bank coordinator, Lee, shared this story with me and I wanted to pass it along. She was driving home on a rainy day when she received a phone call from one of our volunteers. He had just come from Wal-Mart and was distraught when he saw a man and his wife soaking wet outside the store. They were homeless, their children staying with a relative for the day, while they tried to get enough money for food.

Our volunteer gave him a few items he had not yet dropped off at the Community Food Bank, did his shopping and when he returned to the car, the man was just sitting on the sidewalk sobbing and dripping. Our volunteer asked Lee if there was anything we could do. Lee immediately drove to Wal-Mart and purchased some basic needs for the man and his family, including dry clothes and some food. We made an immediate difference in the life of this family for under $80.

It is this kind of compassion and assistance that we see every day here at Tampa Jewish Family Services. It is an inherent part of who we are and we couldn’t do that without your help. Please continue to support our mission. We are here to help.

Thank you,

Dr. Beth Ann Gemunder
