THE BAR HAS BEEN SET HIGH
Under the excellent leadership of our enthusiastic immediate past President Stacie Linsky, and our exceptional CEO Michael Barnett, Tampa Jewish Family Services has had a run of several phenomenal years! The agency has reached and helped more people than ever before, over 12,000 in the last year alone; the scope and nature of the services offered has been expanded significantly; and in each of the last two years, TJFS has been named as a finalist in the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s annual Nonprofit of the Year Awards. In fact, in June of this year, Tampa Jewish Family Services was indeed selected as the 2014 Nonprofit of the Year (Family Services Category)! A well-deserved honor and a crowning achievement at the end of Stacie’s term as president of TJFS. Stacie, on behalf of the entire Board of Directors of Tampa Jewish Family Services, thank you for your outstanding service as president of the agency!
So where do we go from here? As they say, the past is prologue; so we will build on our previous success, and continue to move the agency forward in new and exciting directions. With generous grants from Richard and Barbara Manners, and the Tampa Jewish Federation (our thanks to all!), TJFS will soon begin offering gifted, psycho-educational and psychological assessments for children and adolescents in the Tampa area; these services will help many families work through educational and behavioral concerns. We are also developing new Food Bank initiatives, which include providing more holiday meals to those in need; and we are planning several other events and programs that will expand the agency’s presence in the community, while supporting the core mission of helping families. On the subject of expansion, TJFS will be opening an additional office in the new South Tampa Jewish Community Center in 2016; planning is already underway for the new office space and community programming that will be offered at that facility. Clearly, we have much to look forward to at Tampa Jewish Family Services!
Of course, nothing happens without the extraordinary efforts of our dedicated and talented staff members, who are the true heart and soul of Tampa Jewish Family Services! We also have an outstanding Board of Directors and Advisory Council, who are committed to making the agency as great as it can be. I am honored to have the opportunity to work with all of you!
Yes, the bar has been set high. But over the next few years, we can move it even higher, together.
