Transition Planning…What’s it all about? All parents want their children to be successful and prepared for the future. Transitioning into the adult world is challenging, especially for a child with a disability or special need. Early transition preparation helps parents prepare their child for work, education and independent living. Nina Gregory, FDLRS Gulfcoast Parent Services and Technology Resource Teacher, will provide an overview of the Transition Planning process for students with disabilities, specifically focusing on guardianship information to share with districts, teachers, families and community representatives. Discussion will include topics on when to start the transitioning process, specific requirements, preparing your child for postsecondary education, and guardianship options.
